Peer Support That Meets You Where You Are

What Is Peer Support?
Peer support is non-clinical support grounded in shared lived experience of mental health and/or substance use health challenges. Peer Support Workers draw on their own lived experience to build authentic, empathetic connections and offer support rooted in hope, understanding and mutuality.
Benefits of Peer Support
-
Peer support helps reduce stigma, build connection, and foster mutual support by creating space for people to share and feel understood.
-
It complements clinical care by providing connection, hope, understanding, and practical support grounded in lived experience.
-
Peer support promotes hope, empowerment, and meaningful progress in recovery.
-
Research has associated peer support with a range of positive outcomes, including improved social connection, hope and quality of life, as well as reduced distress and use of acute mental health services.
What We Do
We provide compassionate, non-judgmental peer support grounded in lived experience and centred on each person's needs, strengths and goals.
Peer support is available through one-to-one conversations and peer-led groups. Our brief, time-limited individual support provides a space to talk, explore what supports wellness and recovery, and connect with a Peer Support Worker who brings relevant lived experience.
Our peer-led groups bring people together to build hope, strengthen wellness, develop practical skills, and connect with others through shared lived experience.
We also provide peer support within partner health and community settings, including the Emergency Department, Addictions Medicine Unit, LOTUS Program and HART Hub.
In these settings, Peer Support Workers offer connection and support grounded in lived experience, help individuals identify what may support their next steps, and connect them with appropriate health, wellness and community resources when needed.
